Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2) is a Singapore-based non-profit organisation dedicated to advocating for the rights and welfare of migrant workers.

To gain a deeper understanding of TWC2’s main target audience, their challenges, and pain points, we conducted both online and offline surveys. Here are some key insights gathered from our research:

Transient Workers Count too (TWC2)

One key issue is the lack of awareness and limited outreach among the workers TWC2 aims to help. Most workers remain unaware of TWC2 and the resources available to them. Additionally, inconsistencies in branding and communication make it difficult to establish a strong, recognisable identity.

Another major challenge is TWC2’s website, which serves as the primary source of information. However, the site suffers from information overload and poor navigation, making it difficult for potential workers seeking urgent help.

Additionally, the website lacks clear audience targeting; it is unclear whether it primarily addresses workers in need of assistance or donors and volunteers looking to contribute.

When asked what would they improve about their working conditions

Are you aware of any organisations that advocate for Worker’s rights?

Solution

To rebrand TWC2 and create a more engaging, multi-sensory experience, we developed a three-part approach.

The first component is a redesigned website tailored towards potential donors and volunteers, making it easier to understand the organisation's impact and contribution.

The second component is a mobile app catering to the workers, serving as a one-stop platform for all the services TWC2 provides, easily accessible on the phone at all times.

The final component will be an Activation Campaign ‘Sangam’, a community building event for workers to gather together and to encourage onboarding on the app.

For the workers

The website redesign aims to eliminate clutter and excessive text offering a cleaner and more user friendly experience. Since it targets potential donors, the homepage directs visitors to the Donate and Volunteer pages with a clear call to action. The site effectively communicates What TWC2 does, their mission, ongoing projects, and how they handle donations making it easier for visitors to understand the impact of their contributions and take action. The streamlined layout ensures that key information is accessible without overwhelming users, encouraging greater engagement and support.

The app is designed to be approachable and intuitive, ensuring quick and easy access to all of TWC2’s resources. A key feature is the multilingual framework, allowing users to select their preferred language for better accessibility.

The interface is structured with clearly defined sections, each focusing on a specific area of support. A dedicated contact and support section provides 24/7 assistance via call or WhatsApp, connecting workers with TWC2 volunteers instantly.

The design prioritizes clarity, ease of use, and accessibility, ensuring that workers can easily navigate and access help when needed.

To introduce the new app and connect with the worker community, we wanted to hold an event Campaign; ‘Sangam’ which literally translates to coming together in Hindi.

At the beginning of the event, there will also be an orientation to introduce people to TWC2 and the new app and the features it offers. There will be onsite volunteers present that can assist workers to make the onboarding seamless. Along with that the event will hold activities and games like cricket to help attendees interact and know one another. There will be a food truck serving complimentary food and drinks. The food container and cups are thoughtfully designed with QR codes that link directly to the app, making it easy for attendees to download and explore its features while they enjoy their meals.
